FIDELIUS SCHMID is a journalist. After working at the Financial Times Deutschland, including as a correspondent for foreign and security policy in Brussels, and later at the Handelsblatt, he joined the news magazine DER SPIEGEL in 2012.
His main areas of focus are intelligence services, corruption, and terrorism. He has been involved in major investigations – among them Russian spy networks in Germany, the Nord Stream sabotage, the Tiergarten murder, as well as the unmasking of alleged Wirecard executive Jan Marsalek in Moscow. Together with colleagues, he received the Nannen Prize in 2021 for the investigation “These Are the Men Who Were Supposed to Kill Navalny.”
