plan A Networks Frankfurt

The theme of this year’s network series is the transformation of building: What does climate neutrality mean for urban planning, architecture, and the real estate industry? What are the key levers for this change? How can we build in harmony with the Earth’s resources? If not radical renunciation – what are our alternatives?

The digital transformation of our cities is unstoppable – but how can we deal with the high energy consumption of the data centres it requires? What does this mean for a city like Frankfurt am Main, the capital of Europe’s data centres? No other Internet node in the world has so much data passing through it.

Martin Pauli leads the Foresight Advisory Business for Arup in Germany. He is also an innovation advisor to the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and a member of the Future of Construction advisory board of the Financial Times. With the Citibank data centre in Frankfurt, Arup realized the world’s first data centre with LEED Platinum certification back in 2012.

Paul Indinger is an expert in the digitalization of construction. In 2015, he founded Building Radar, a digital search engine for construction projects, which uses artificial intelligence to identify buildings around the world at an early stage. The startup’s investors include Alexander Samwer, SIGNA, and Viessmann.
