What happens when the smart city isn’t quite so smart? Buildings and infrastructure are becoming increasingly digital, efficient, and complex. But where do new dependencies and unnecessary vulnerabilities arise? What should continue to function without the cloud, networks, or automated control systems – and how can we design systems that remain operational when disruptions occur?

LINUS NEUMANN is a hacker, Head of Security Strategy at Security Research Labs, and spokesperson for the Chaos Computer Club. On behalf of companies, he examines IT systems and critical infrastructure for vulnerabilities – with the aim of making them more resilient.
