In his great novel “Im Stein” (English: “Bricks and Mortar”), Clemens Meyer offers a blunt yet tender portrayal of these creatures of the night, their rise and fall, the dirt of the street, and the flow of money. Meyer lives in Leipzig. He financed his studies at the Leipzig Literature Institute by working as a security guard, forklift driver, and furniture mover. His debut novel “Als wir träumten” (English: “As We Were Dreaming”) was filmed this year by Andreas Dresen. Meyer has been awarded numerous prizes, including the Leipzig Book Fair Prize.
This evening, he’ll be reading at Hare + Hedgehog – Stefan Marquard’s new restaurant in the former Thompson-Siegel works. Meyer will take us on a journey through the great changes of the last 25 years, to beauty beyond morality.
