I am smart but my brain is run in California... Prevailing notions about the future are often set in sterile, white rooms. They are programmed and optimized to be energy efficient and ecologically sound. The arrival of the future is unobtrusive, silent and remotely controlled. Was the future always so quiet? What are the underlying structures, aesthetic parameters and control mechanisms of these scenarios? Do we need a new design, a new system of expression, in architecture? Do we surrender ourselves to technology because that, which we cannot see, we also cannot design?

Through lectures, performances and film screenings, the international symposium will host a journey through current scenarios of the future. Futurologists, architects, critics and curators will convene from around the world to address the ambiguous influence of digitalisation on architecture and our cities, the power of “Big Data”, and smart cities and their vulnerabilities.

An accompanying installation, “Metropolitan Fictions,” by architect Nadine Zinser-Junghanns, will feature a film by Andrey Yagubsky (Moscow) amongst others.

Part of the week-long design event, Munich Creative Business Week MCBW 2015.
